Barcelona are eyeing young left-back Nicolas Bosshardt from São Paulo, who is being monitored by European clubs

Barcelona has turned its attention once again to Brazil. The Catalan club is monitoring Nicolas Bosshardt, an 18-year-old left-back from São Paulo, who has just been called up to the professional squad for the first time.
European Interest Growing
Bosshardt recently renewed his contract with São Paulo until December 2029, but his name is already on the radar of top European clubs. Apart from Barça, Stuttgart from Germany has also expressed interest in the youngster.
First Call-Up Under Crespo
The full-back was included by coach Hernán Crespo in the squad for the Brasileirão clash against Sport, as the coach rotated his squad to prioritize the Libertadores round of 16 match against Atlético Nacional. Although he did not step on the pitch, the call-up marked his official entry into the professional setup.
Competition for the position is currently strong, with players like Enzo Díaz and Wendell, but Bosshardt is expected to receive more opportunities in the Brazilian Championship in the coming months, especially if São Paulo advances further in continental competitions.
Who is Nicolas Bosshardt?
Known for his attacking versatility, Bosshardt can also operate as a left midfielder. In 2023, he was recognized by Spanish outlet AS as the best left-back of his age group.
Having already featured for São Paulo’s U-20 team, he gained international experience in tournaments such as the Dallas Cup, which included clubs like Real Madrid and Newcastle.
Next Brazilian Gem for Europe?
At only 18, Bosshardt is seen as one of the most promising talents in Brazilian football, and Barcelona’s interest reinforces the trend of European giants scouting the South American market for future stars.
