Tottenham Sign Mohamed Kudus From West Ham in €64M Deal

Ghanaian star agrees six-year contract after Spurs beat Chelsea to secure transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Mohamed Kudus from West Ham United in a deal worth €64 million, according to The Athletic. The 24-year-old Ghana international will sign a six-year contract, becoming one of the club’s marquee signings ahead of the new season.

Tottenham’s initial offer of €60 million was rejected, but the North London club returned with an improved bid that West Ham accepted. The move fulfills Kudus’ desire to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League.

Spurs Beat Out Competition

While Chelsea also showed interest in Kudus, the Blues never formalized their approach. Spurs’ decisive action and upcoming participation in Europe’s top-tier competition after winning the UEFA Europa League proved pivotal in convincing the winger to make the switch.

The signing is viewed as a key step in strengthening Tottenham’s attacking options as they prepare for a return to the continental stage and aim for a strong Premier League campaign.

Kudus’ Rise in the Premier League

Kudus joined West Ham in 2023 from Ajax for a fee of around €44 million. In two seasons in East London, he became a vital player under then-coach David Moyes, tallying 13 goals and 8 assists in 65 appearances.

Known for his versatility, powerful shooting, and dribbling ability, Kudus has operated both on the wing and as an attacking midfielder. His market value surged during his time at the London Stadium, although he was allowed to leave for significantly less than his reported €100 million release clause.

West Ham to Reinvest

The Hammers opted to cash in on Kudus as part of a larger squad overhaul. With Graham Potter preparing for his first full season in charge, the funds will be used to rebuild and bring in players better suited to his style of play.
