Real Madrid concerned about Vinicius Junior’s poor form and trying to get rid of Rodrygo, reports say

Real Madrid’s shock 4-0 defeat to PSG in the Club World Cup semi-final has intensified internal scrutiny over two of the club’s Brazilian stars — Vinicius Júnior and Rodrygo Goes.
Following the heavy loss on Wednesday (9), Spanish newspapers Marca and As reported rising concern within the club about Vinicius Júnior’s alarming dip in form and that the club is actively exploring transfer options for Rodrygo.
Vinicius Júnior Underperforming
According to Marca, Vinicius Júnior’s performances have fallen well short of expectations, with the winger barely making an impact during the semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
“The situation of Vinicius is particularly worrying; he is far from the level he once reached. The concern is growing because his training ground form doesn’t reflect what he shows during matches,” the paper wrote.
Head coach Xabi Alonso, reportedly frustrated, is said to be seeking “honesty” from Vinicius regarding his mindset and future plans.
“They want him to be honest and make clear what he wants for the future. Nothing is off the table.”
Rodrygo Transfer Plans Already Underway
While Vinicius’ case appears to be more about rehabilitation and understanding, Marca reports that Real Madrid has already decided to offload Rodrygo this summer. The forward, who has struggled to maintain consistency, is now seen as expendable.
The newspaper states that the club is “actively searching for a destination” for Rodrygo in the current transfer window.
Arsenal Eyeing €90M Move for Rodrygo
Meanwhile, rival outlet As claims that Arsenal is one of the front-runners for Rodrygo’s signature. The Gunners are reportedly willing to invest over €90 million (approximately R$573 million) to bring the 23-year-old attacker to the Premier League.
The potential deal would mark one of the most high-profile exits from the Santiago Bernabéu in recent years and a major addition to Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.
Club at a Crossroads?
The twin situations of Vinicius and Rodrygo highlight a moment of transition for Real Madrid, especially following a humiliating World Cup elimination. With new signings like Endrick arriving soon and the club chasing elite targets like Kylian Mbappé, the pressure is mounting on existing attackers to deliver or move on.
