The Reds continue to explore high-profile striker options as transfer window heats up

Liverpool are actively seeking reinforcements in attack this summer and, in a surprising move, recently attempted to sign Marcus Rashford from Premier League rivals Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail. However, negotiations failed to progress, and the deal appears off the table for now.

Rashford: A Target for Both Liverpool and Barcelona

Rashford’s uncertain future has attracted interest from multiple European giants, including Barcelona, who are reportedly also monitoring the English forward. However, with Barcelona keeping tabs on Luis Díaz, Rashford is just one of several names on their shortlist.

Liverpool, for their part, have made it clear they want to keep Luis Díaz, despite interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Reds are reluctant to sell the Colombian winger unless a “major” offer arrives.

Liverpool’s Transfer Plans: Rodrygo and Isak in Focus

While Rashford may no longer be an option, Liverpool’s board is aggressively pursuing other elite targets to bolster manager Arne Slot’s squad:

  • Rodrygo (Real Madrid): The club is preparing to send agent Pini Zahavi to Madrid to initiate official talks. Liverpool view Rodrygo as a versatile, high-upside forward who could immediately make an impact.
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle United): The Reds are reportedly prepared to submit a £120 million bid (≈ R$897 million) for the Swedish striker. However, the offer is contingent on Newcastle changing their stance, as the club currently considers Isak untouchable.

What Happens Next?

With Rashford negotiations stalling and Newcastle unwilling to part ways with Isak, Liverpool’s recruitment team faces key decisions in the coming weeks. Rodrygo remains a top priority, but Real Madrid’s valuation and future plans will influence any potential deal.

If none of these moves materialize, Liverpool may need to explore alternative forward options or turn their focus to internal development, especially if Luis Díaz stays at Anfield.
