Juventus will pay the €30 million release clause of Francisco Conceição with FC Porto

FC Porto winger to join Serie A giants after standout season and Club World Cup performance
Juventus is set to sign Francisco Conceição permanently, activating the €30 million release clause in his contract with FC Porto before it increases to €45 million at midnight on July 15.
The 22-year-old Portuguese winger spent the 2024/25 season on loan with the Bianconeri, impressing enough to convince the club to make his stay in Turin permanent. After weeks of negotiations and tension with Porto, Juventus will move quickly to close the deal and avoid paying a higher fee.
Porto Clause Forces Juventus Into Action
While Juventus initially attempted to negotiate a lower transfer fee reportedly in the range of €20 million Porto refused to budge. The Portuguese club remained firm, knowing the release clause was set to jump to €45 million after July 15.
Realizing that waiting any longer could cost them an additional €15 million, Juventus decided to pay the current clause in full to secure the player.
Francisco Conceição’s 2024/25 Season Highlights
- Appearances: 40
- Goals: 7
- Assists: 4
- Club World Cup: 2 goals
- Age: 22
- Nationality: Portuguese
Conceição’s performance at the FIFA Club World Cup, where he scored twice, was a particular standout. His dynamic style, flair on the ball, and ability to impact big matches have made him a fan favorite in Turin.
Fallout with Porto After Father’s Exit
Despite being a product of Porto’s academy, Francisco Conceição was not expected to return to the Dragões. His relationship with the club soured following the departure of his father, Sérgio Conceição, as head coach at the end of the 2023/24 season.
This tension contributed to the player’s determination to stay in Italy, even if it meant giving up part of his earnings.
Conceição Waives Share of Fee to Facilitate Transfer
A key obstacle in the deal was the player’s ownership of 20% of his own transfer rights, a clause negotiated during his return from Ajax. In theory, that meant Francisco was owed €6 million from the €30 million deal.
However, to speed up the move, he waived that amount, allowing Porto to receive the full sum—a gesture that helped break the deadlock and finalize the transfer.
