Güler and Mastantuono Tipped to Replace Bellingham at Real Madrid During Three-Month Injury Absence

Xabi Alonso backs young talents after midfielder undergoes shoulder surgery

Real Madrid will be without star midfielder Jude Bellingham for approximately three months following shoulder surgery, and manager Xabi Alonso has already identified his preferred replacements, according to Diario AS.

Arda Güler and Franco Mastantuono in Line for Promotion

With Bellingham sidelined, Alonso plans to rotate between Arda Güler and Franco Mastantuono to fill the creative void in the Merengue midfield. Both players are seen as promising talents with similar profiles known for their vision, short dribbling, and precise passing.

According to reports, Güler is expected to be the first-choice replacement due to his versatility and greater integration within the squad. The Turkish international has been with Madrid longer and already formed on-field chemistry with key players like Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé.

Güler’s Rise at the Club World Cup

The 19-year-old Güler made a strong impression at the FIFA Club World Cup, starting in five out of six matches and directly contributing to three goals. Alongside Gonzalo García, he was one of Real Madrid’s standout performers, showcasing his creativity and maturity under pressure.

His performances appear to have convinced Alonso that he can shoulder greater responsibility in Bellingham’s absence.

Mastantuono Still in the Picture

Franco Mastantuono, another rising star, was personally requested by Alonso for his long-term project at Madrid. While he is still adjusting to the tactical demands of European football, his speed and playmaking abilities could make him a valuable rotational option.

However, concerns over his limited experience in central midfield and overall adaptability may see him take on a secondary role for now.
