Endrick Turns 19 and Aims to Shine Under Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid

After a year of adaptation, the Brazilian striker hopes to gain more minutes in the 2025-26 season
Real Madrid striker Endrick celebrates his 19th birthday this Monday (21), marking a new chapter in his career as he looks to secure a more prominent role under coach Xabi Alonso. The young Brazilian is entering his second season in Spain, now with hopes of becoming a regular presence in the Merengues’ squad.
A year of adaptation and flashes of brilliance
Endrick joined Real Madrid in a €72 million deal from Palmeiras, including bonuses and taxes, when he was still a minor. His first season in Europe was marked by limited opportunities under former coach Carlo Ancelotti, though he still managed to score important goals and finished as the club’s top scorer in the Copa del Rey, despite a runner-up finish.
Now, with Xabi Alonso at the helm, Real Madrid’s message is clear: no plans to loan or sell Endrick. The coaching staff is ready to give the striker more chances, with the belief that he can replicate the rise of fellow Brazilian Vinícius Júnior, who also took time to reach top form.
From Copinha prodigy to Palmeiras hero
Endrick’s path to Madrid was meteoric. At just 15, he dominated Brazil’s Copinha youth tournament, quickly earning a promotion to Palmeiras’ first team at age 16 under Abel Ferreira. He became a key figure in the club’s 2023 Brasileirão title, especially with his performance in the final rounds, helping Palmeiras overtake Botafogo in dramatic fashion.

What to expect in 2025-26?
The club sees Endrick as a long-term investment. While he may not start every game, there is optimism that with more minutes and tactical integration, he can have a breakout season in 2025-26. His instinct for goal, versatility in attack, and experience despite his age make him one of the most promising young players in world football.
As he turns 19, all eyes are on how the €72M investment will evolve into a key piece of Real Madrid’s future.
