Gunners prepare squad overhaul with nine potential departures
Arsenal could be heading into the 2025/26 season with a significantly revamped squad as the club’s board considers parting ways with up to nine first-team players, according to a report from GOAL.
The list includes Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Reiss Nelson, Leandro Trossard, Fábio Vieira, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Albert Sambi Lokonga. The Gunners are reportedly evaluating permanent transfers or loans as they seek to refine Mikel Arteta’s options ahead of another title push.
Gabriel Jesus & Martinelli Could Be on the Move
Gabriel Jesus, signed from Manchester City, has struggled with recurring injuries and inconsistent form. While recent reports linked him to Flamengo, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano dismissed those claims. Nevertheless, a sale or loan is still under consideration as Arsenal assess his long-term value.
Gabriel Martinelli, meanwhile, could face increased competition following interest in Noni Madueke. The Brazilian winger arrived in North London for just €7.6 million (originally R$44 million) and now holds considerable resale value. Arsenal could look to cash in on a profitable transfer.
Kai Havertz Targeted by Bundesliga Clubs
Despite flashes of quality, Kai Havertz has yet to fully convince Arteta or the Arsenal hierarchy. Multiple German clubs have shown interest, and while no final decision has been made, the club may opt to sell if a suitable offer arrives.
Zinchenko, Trossard and Kiwior All Face Uncertain Futures
Oleksandr Zinchenko, who saw limited action last season, reportedly requested a transfer, though Arteta initially declined. The Ukrainian defender’s contract runs until June 2026, but the club has not offered an extension, raising doubts about his future.
Leandro Trossard, often used as a rotational player, has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Crystal Palace. With just one year left on his contract, Arsenal may look to offload the Belgian this summer.
Jakub Kiwior, signed in 2023, has struggled with both injuries and competition for minutes. While his sale hasn’t been confirmed, sources indicate he may seek regular playing time elsewhere.
Squad Players Likely to Depart
Reiss Nelson, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, returned to Arsenal but is unlikely to feature prominently in Arteta’s plans. He managed two goals and one assist in 12 games last term.
Albert Sambi Lokonga, who was on loan at Sevilla, is also set to be sold. With just one year remaining on his Arsenal deal, the club is actively looking for buyers.
Fábio Vieira, currently on loan at FC Porto, is another likely departure. The Portuguese midfielder is reportedly being lined up by Parma in Serie A.
Arsenal’s Strategy: Streamline and Reinforce
Arsenal’s potential squad reshuffle aligns with the club’s broader plan to balance financial fair play constraints while reinforcing key areas. The funds generated from these potential exits would provide Arteta with flexibility in the market as the Gunners pursue trophies on multiple fronts.
