Ademola Lookman rejects Barcelona and prioritizes transfer to Inter Milan

Atalanta forward prefers Nerazzurri switch despite offers from top European clubs

Barcelona’s pursuit of Ademola Lookman has come to an end, with the Atalanta forward turning down the Spanish giants, according to Corriere della Sera. The 27-year-old Nigerian international has expressed a clear preference for joining Inter Milan, despite interest from several elite clubs across Europe.

Lookman Turns Down Barça, Atlético and Napoli

Lookman has reportedly rejected offers from Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, and Napoli. Although the Catalan club remains active in the transfer market, they now face another setback after also missing out on Nico Williams, who renewed his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

While Barcelona hoped to add the dynamic winger to bolster their attacking options, Lookman made it clear he only wants Inter.

Inter Working on Agreement, But Atalanta Hold Firm

Inter Milan have already reached a verbal agreement with Lookman’s agents. However, talks between Inter and Atalanta are proving difficult due to the Bergamo club’s valuation of the player.

Atalanta are demanding €50 million for the striker, while Inter have offered €44 million, which was immediately rejected. Negotiations are ongoing, but the difference in valuation remains a hurdle.

Lookman Among Serie A’s Top Performers

Under contract until June 2027, Lookman is coming off an outstanding 2023/24 season, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists across all competitions. His involvement in 27 goals in 40 matches has made him one of Serie A’s most sought-after attackers.

The Nigerian forward’s explosiveness, versatility, and clinical finishing have made him a top target for Inter as they look to refresh their attack heading into the new season.
