Race against time in Brazil: change coach… before changing president
Ednaldo Rodrigues could be dismissed soon, but CBF wants to secure Real Madrid coach

Carlo Ancelotti’s saga with the Brazilian national team continues, with a new episode that increases the suspense and offers an unexpected intrigue.
Brazilians are preparing for the possible dismissal of the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) through legal action, which is why Ednaldo Rodrigues is in a race against time to sign a contract with the Italian coach to take charge of the national team.
The newspaper As maintains that Ancelotti will sign with Brazil next week, after Real Madrid ‘s derby against Barcelona , and that the CBF is preparing a legal plan to ensure that Ancelotti keeps his job if Ednaldo Rodrigues is removed.
Last week, the Supreme Federal Court (STF), through Minister Gilmar Mendes, denied the request for the president’s removal made by deputy Daniela do Waguinho, but sent the case to the Rio de Janeiro Sports Court of Justice, due to “serious suspicions”. The latter will soon rule on the case against the president of the CBF, who may no longer be in office next week. The case is the alleged forgery of a signature on the document confirming the election of Ednaldo Rodrigues in 2022.
It is not known whether he will leave or what chances he has of returning to the position, so securing his signature is vital.
Everything seemed to be defined more than two months ago, but the final agreement did not materialize because negotiations dragged on, with the situation at Real Madrid not being clear.
Fans want Jorge Jesus
The Spanish newspaper also reports that Ancelotti is the CBF’s favourite, but not the people’s: that’s Jorge Jesus, who he calls the “messiah” after his success at Flamengo. The Portuguese coach, who impressed during his time at the Rio de Janeiro club (winning the Brazilian title, the Copa Libertadores, the Recopa Sudamericana, the Super Cup of Brazil and the Taça Carioca) terminated his contract with Al Hilal by mutual agreement on 2 May, leaving him free to take up the position with the national team.
