‘Cuti’ Romero: “I would love to play in LaLiga”

‘Cuti’ Romero admitted in an interview with the Edul brothers that he would like to play in LaLiga , as it’s the championship he’s “missing” to compete in, having played in Serie A and the Premier League . The Argentine defender is a strong candidate to join Atlético Madrid, although his signing doesn’t seem easy or cheap.

The defender also discussed other matters, such as Messi’s presence at the upcoming World Cup. Romero has no doubt that the “Pulga” will play in the 2026 championship.

Messi says that “if he’s fit” he’ll play in the World Cup: “He’s fit. I think he’s doing very well. If he wasn’t fit, I’d run twice as hard for him. We want him to be there, hopefully he’ll be there. He’s physically impeccable, given his age…”

What Messi means to the Argentine national team: “He means everything to us. He’s our symbol, the flag that shows us the way. With him there, he’s there for the opponent too… For me, he’ll be there. I haven’t thought about the possibility of him not being there.”

The most annoying striker who has defended: “Jackson, annoying in his way of speaking. We played away last year, we talked everything over each other the whole game. Richarlison is another annoying one. I know him now, he’s a character. But if I face him with the national team, he’s annoying.”

Best center back in the world: “Excluding marketing, for me Rudiger, Licha (Lisandro Martínez), and Van Dijk are the best. Watching football, those three are the best.”

Where would you like to play: “I would love to play in LaLiga, it’s the one I’m missing.”

Something missing: “Winning the Champions League would be the ultimate.”

Future: “I’m going to give my best until the last day I’m here. I’m happy. They make me feel like an important player. Whatever the future holds for me, I welcome it.”
