Rangers and Athletic Bilbao draw in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals
With one less player from the start, Rangers hold off pressure from Athletic, who miss a penalty after a goal was disallowed by VAR

Down to ten men since the 11th minute of the first half, after Propper was sent off, Rangers held Athletic Bilbao to a 0-0 draw at Ibrox in the Europa League quarter-finals. The Spanish team had a golden chance at the end: Berenguer scored a goal, but VAR disallowed it and awarded a penalty for handball. The Rangers goalkeeper was brilliant in the penalty shootout, securing the draw. Everything is open for the return leg.

Athletic started better and had an extra player from the 11th minute, after Propper was sent off. Even with the advantage, the Spanish team were hampered by Rangers’ lack of objectivity and good defense.
In the second half, Berenguer scored, but VAR disallowed the goal due to handball and awarded a penalty. The Rangers goalkeeper saved the shot. With one less player, the Scottish team held on to the draw until the end. Neither team had an advantage for the second leg.
