Atlético Madrid president talks about Griezmann’s future
The French international has one more year on his contract, but has been linked to other stages, such as the MLS
Antoine Griezmann has a contract with Atlético Madrid until June 2026, but his stay at the Metropolitano is not fully guaranteed. The French international has been linked with a possible move to Major League Soccer (MLS) .
The Spanish press reported this Thursday that the 34-year-old striker intends to fulfill the contract that binds him to the Colchoneros . Enrique Cerezo, president of the Madrid team, did not open up.
” Griezmann is an Atlético Madrid man . He will do whatever he wants. He is a magnificent player and a great person,” he said on the sidelines of the presentation of the Vicente del Bosque summer camp, also praising Julián Álvarez : “He is a great player and we already knew that when we brought him. We are happy with his performance and he is an excellent person.”
Enrique Cerezo has not confirmed that the Metropolitano will host the UEFA Champions League final in 2027.
“We made this request, we don’t know if UEFA will accept it in the end,” he stressed, hoping that Atleti ‘s home will be one of the venues for the 2030 World Cup , which will be hosted by Portugal, Spain and Morocco.
“They said that the Bernabéu and Metropolitano will be the venues, what we don’t know is whether the final will be played in one stadium or the other, or which games we will host,” he added.
