At 18, Lewis-Skelly makes history for England

England v Albania was always going to be a special game for Myles Lewis-Skelly, as it was his first appearance for the England national team, but the importance of this game would reach proportions that the Arsenal player himself probably would not have expected.

At 18 years of age, the left-back was one of the eleven chosen by Thomas Tuchel – who is also playing his first game in charge of the English team. But it didn’t stop there. It was the 20th minute of the match when Lewis-Skelly finished off a great pass from Jude Bellingham in the best possible way and opened the scoring, breaking a record.

The defender became the youngest player ever to score on his debut for the British national team, surpassing the record set by Marcus Rashford , who scored on his debut against Australia in 2016.

It is worth remembering that the 2024/25 season is Lewis-Skelly’s first. The English prodigy’s rise has been meteoric. With 29 appearances for Arsenal , he is already a regular starter in Mikel Arteta’s squad and, from now on, he will certainly be one of Tuchel’s regular choices for the Three Lions.
