‘Humiliation’: Bayern legend outraged after watching Muller play… 24 seconds
Lothar Matthaus criticises Kompany’s decision to compensate Celtic game

Thomas Muller was introduced in the closing stages of the game against Celtic – which secured Bayern ‘s qualification for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 – and only played for 24 seconds, which led to harsh criticism from Lothar Matthaus, in relation to coach Vincent Kompany.
“It’s humiliating. I was sad and felt sorry for him. I was in shock,” said the former Munich star on Sky Sports.
“It’s something Thomas Muller doesn’t have to put up with. He’s one of the greatest and most successful players of all time. For a few seconds, the coach could have chosen another player. If that’s the perspective for the future, then he should have done something different. I don’t think he liked it. For what? To get another Champions League game? In his place I would feel ridiculous,” added the former German international.
