Beckham, Ferguson, Amorim and team: Manchester United bid farewell to iconic figure
Kath Phipps, a club employee since the late 1960s, was loved by everyone at the club
Manchester United will bid a final farewell this Monday to Kath Phipps, a beloved club employee who died in December at the age of 85. Dozens of former and current players said goodbye to her at the time, and now they will accompany her at the funeral ceremonies at Manchester Cathedral.
David Beckham, accompanied by his parents, was one of the first to arrive, as was Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Manchester United squad, led by Ruben Amorim, was also present.
Kath has held a number of roles at the club, starting in 1968. She eventually became a receptionist at the club’s Carrington training ground, being the face of the players.
