Ben Yedder faces two and a half years in prison for sexual assault
Request made by the prosecutor of the court of Nice, with the sentence to be handed down on November 12
Ben Yedder was tried in a court in Nice on Tuesday and the prosecutor requested a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for the Frenchman, with 18 months suspended. According to the French portal RMC, the sentence will be handed down on November 12.
The case involves a sexual assault that dates back to September 6, when the former Monaco player allegedly placed his hand on the victim’s thigh. He then tried to kiss her while she was masturbating.
At Tuesday’s hearing, Ben Yedder ‘s lawyer , Marie Roumiantseva, called for her client to be acquitted.
“The lawyer for the civil party mentions the fact that the vehicle was locked, but when examining the closed-circuit television (CCTV) images, it is clear that the vehicle is stationary and that the complainant enters the vehicle from the back to the front. The vehicle was not locked. In the car park, he is the one who passes from the back. The car was not locked. Perhaps he thought of this, but it is materially difficult to conceive,” he argued.
It should be noted that Ben Yedder will also be tried in December of this year, after being accused by his wife, in February, of “psychological violence”, and is still being investigated for alleged rape since the summer of 2023.
