Raphinha reveals he almost left Barcelona
The Barça and Brazilian national team striker thought about leaving the club in the first six months; he is one of the team’s standout players at the start of the season
Striker Raphinha almost left Barcelona after initially struggling to adapt to the club. This is what the player himself revealed on Monday in an interview with RAC1 radio. He has been in the spotlight in the Spanish press in recent days due to his stellar performance in Barça ‘s victory over Valladolid in La Liga.
— Yes, I thought about it. The first few months were difficult for me and my family. After the World Cup I got better and was able to finish the season well. I felt more relaxed, but the beginning was quite difficult. It was hard for me to adapt to the club — said Raphinha.
The Brazilian is in his third season at the Spanish club. The 2024/25 season has been a very good start for him so far, with three goals and two assists in four competitive games. This comes after seeing his name constantly speculated as one of the players that Barcelona would negotiate in the summer transfer window.
Raphinha has played 91 official games for Barcelona, scoring 23 goals and providing 25 assists.
Barcelona’s next game will not be until September 15, against Girona, away from home, in the Spanish Championship. Barça leads the competition, with a 100% record in the four rounds played so far.
