PSG refuses to pay €55 million to Mbappé and case goes to court
The situation could have greater repercussions than just financial ones for the Parisians… such as a ban on signing and registering players and even a ban on playing in European competitions
PSG was, this Thursday, ordered to pay 55 million euros to Kylian Mbappé , for overdue wages and bonuses, but has already announced that it will not do so and has expressed its willingness to go to court .
“We will not pay. PSG will be happy to present all the facts in the coming months and years in court. Given the limits of the legal competence of the LFP [Professional Football League] commission to make a full decision on this matter, it must now be submitted to another jurisdiction,” the Parisian club responded in a statement, contesting the LFP’s decision.
Given PSG ‘s refusal to pay €55 million to the French international, currently at Real Madrid , the case could have greater repercussions than just financial ones for the Parisians… such as a ban on signing and registering players and even a ban on playing in European competitions.
Remember that Mbappé appealed to the French Federation and UEFA to ask the PSG wages and bonuses that he considers have not been paid to him and are therefore in arrears – 55 million euros. The amount claimed from the club’s majority shareholder, Qatar Sports Investments , includes the last third of a signing bonus (36 million euros gross) that the player expected to have received in February, the last three months of salary stipulated in his contract (April, May and June), as well as an ‘ethical bonus’ relating to those three months.
