Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr hires former Milan coach
Stefano Pioli won the Italian Championship in the 2021/22 season and replaces Luís Castro in charge of the Saudi Arabian team
Al-Nassr announced on Wednesday that Stefano Pioli is the new coach of Cristiano Ronaldo’s team. The 58-year-old Italian arrives to replace Portuguese Luis Castro, who was fired on Tuesday . Pioli managed Milan for five seasons and left the club after a successful job.
The coach was hired in October 2019 with the mission of taking Milan out of the middle of the Italian Championship table. His arrival was turbulent given his time at Inter Milan, the club’s rival, in the 2016/17 season. The Italian coach led Milan to their 19th Serie A title in 2021/22, ending the club’s 11-year drought in the top flight.
The announcement of Stefano Pioli’s signing was made by Al-Nassr on its social media profiles.
The club has not yet released the details of Pioli’s contract. The Italian arrives with the mission of improving Al-Nassr’s performance in Saudi football, especially in competition with Al-Hilal, who have dominated the sporting scene in recent seasons.
