Arsenal lose Martinelli for the match against Porto, in the Champions League
Arsenal will be without Martinelli in the Champions League game against Porto. Martinelli suffered an injury during Arsenal’s victory over Sheffield United.
Gabriel Martinelli was injured in Arsenal’s Premier League game against Sheffield United on March 4.
The Brazilian player scored in the 15th minute of the first half, at Gtech Stadium, but had to be replaced in the 64th minute by Gabriel Jesus, due to an injury.
The 22-year-old striker was left out of his team’s victory over Brentford. “We’ve had Martinelli and Bukayo Saka with little problems. We’re quite optimistic that, hopefully, they can be part of it. But we’ll have to see how they feel,” Arteta said ahead of the game against the Bees.
The player did not train with his teammates on Monday and appears to be out of the second game of the Champions League knockout stage, against Porto, due to a foot injury. Arteta’s team will have to reinvent themselves without the striker, who has scored eight goals and provided five assists for Arsenal this season.
