Max Melton’s family has played an important role in his journey from New Jersey high school football to the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals cornerback comes from an athletic household where both parents competed at Rutgers University and two of their sons eventually reached professional football.
Born Malachi Maxwell Melton on April 15, 2002, Max is the son of Gary Melton Sr. and Vicky Melton. He grew up in Mays Landing, New Jersey, alongside his older brothers, Bo Melton and Gary Melton Jr., and his sister, Jasmine Melton.
His brother Bo is also an NFL player, having joined the Green Bay Packers after beginning his professional career with the Seattle Seahawks.
While Max’s parents and siblings have been extensively discussed in football interviews, he has revealed considerably less information about his romantic relationships and possible children.
Here is everything publicly known about Max Melton’s wife or girlfriend, children, parents, siblings and family background.
Max Melton’s Wife or Girlfriend: Is He Married?
Max Melton has not publicly confirmed a wife or girlfriend through reliable interviews, official NFL biographies or established sports publications.
As of now, his marital status and current relationship status have not been independently verified.
Despite attracting national attention as a Rutgers University cornerback and becoming a second-round NFL Draft selection in 2024, Melton has maintained considerable privacy regarding his romantic life.
His public interviews have concentrated primarily on his football performances, his competitive relationship with his brothers and his family’s athletic background.
There is no sufficiently verified public announcement identifying a spouse, fiancée or long-term romantic partner.
Consequently, it would be inaccurate to identify any particular person as Max Melton’s wife or girlfriend without reliable confirmation.
Max Melton’s Children: Does He Have a Son or Daughter?
As of now, there is no verified public information confirming that Max Melton has children.
His official Arizona Cardinals and Rutgers University biographies do not identify any sons or daughters.
Likewise, reliable interviews reviewed for this article have not established that he is a father.
However, the absence of publicly available information does not necessarily mean Melton has no children. It simply means that his parental status has not been confirmed through trustworthy reporting.
Interestingly, Max’s older brother Bo Melton became a father in 2024, welcoming a son named Kylo. That information concerns Bo’s family and should not be confused with Max Melton’s own parental status.
Max Melton’s Parents: Meet His Father and Mother
Max Melton’s parents are Gary Melton Sr. and Vicky Melton, both former college athletes at Rutgers University.
Their sporting backgrounds helped establish an environment in which their children developed a strong interest in competitive athletics.
The family’s story was extensively documented by the Green Bay Packers in an October 11, 2024, feature containing interviews with Max, Bo, Gary Jr. and their parents.
Max Melton’s Father: Gary Melton Sr.
Gary Melton Sr. is Max Melton’s father and a former Rutgers University football player.

His involvement in college athletics became an important influence on his children, particularly his three sons.
Growing up in New Jersey, Max and his brothers frequently heard stories about their father’s performances at Rutgers.
As the boys became interested in football, Gary began organizing training activities around the family’s home.
He installed equipment in their backyard, including a pull-up bar and training ladder, allowing them to practice their speed, strength and coordination.
The backyard became a regular setting for football drills, competitive games and other athletic activities.
How Gary Melton Sr. Helped Develop Max’s Football Skills
Gary Melton Sr. also participated directly in his sons’ football development as a coach.
According to the Packers’ October 2024 family profile, he coached Max from his first day of youth football until his final high school game in 2019.
During that period, Max developed from a young player interested in several sports into one of New Jersey’s leading high school football prospects.
Gary also worked as an assistant coach at Cedar Creek High School, where Max and Bo played together during part of their high school careers.
He witnessed both sons compete in the same varsity football program, an experience he later described as emotionally meaningful.
His influence continued when Max joined Rutgers University, where he played the same sport as his father.
Gary supported both Max and Bo throughout their college careers, regularly attending Rutgers games with his wife.
In 2024, he celebrated another milestone when Max joined Bo in the NFL.
Max Melton’s Mother: Vicky Melton
Vicky Melton, whose maiden name is Vicky Green, is Max Melton’s mother and a former college basketball player.
She attended Rutgers University, where she competed for the Scarlet Knights women’s basketball team from 1989 through 1993.
According to the Green Bay Packers’ official family feature, Vicky was a two-time team captain.
Her college basketball career overlapped with a successful period for Rutgers women’s basketball, which made nine consecutive NCAA tournament appearances between 1986 and 1994.
Although Vicky enjoyed considerable success as an athlete, her sons have described her as modest about her sporting accomplishments.
Bo Melton explained in the Packers’ 2024 interview that his mother rarely discussed her basketball career and instead concentrated on supporting her children.
Vicky encouraged her sons to participate in multiple sports rather than directing them exclusively toward football.
As a result, Max played several sports during childhood, including soccer, before developing into a highly regarded defensive football player.
She continued supporting him as his athletic career progressed through high school, Rutgers and the NFL.
How Max Melton’s Parents Met

Members of Rutgers’ football and basketball programs were attending the gathering.
Gary and Vicky began talking after being introduced through a mutual acquaintance.

They subsequently married and established a family with strong connections to college athletics.
Their sons would later continue that tradition by pursuing Division I football careers.

After graduating from high school, Bo attended Rutgers University, following the example of his parents.
He played college football for the Scarlet Knights from 2017 through 2021 and became one of the team’s most productive wide receivers.
Bo completed his college career with 164 receptions for 2,011 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.
The Seattle Seahawks selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the 229th overall pick.
He subsequently joined the Green Bay Packers, where he began making regular-season appearances in 2023.
During the 2023 season, Bo became the first Packers wide receiver that year to record a 100-yard receiving game, achieving the milestone against the Minnesota Vikings.
In 2025, Green Bay began transitioning him from wide receiver to cornerback, giving him the same primary position as Max.
As of now, Bo remains an important member of Max Melton’s publicly documented family support system.
Max Melton’s Relationship With Bo Melton
The relationship between Max and Bo Melton has been extensively discussed by both the Arizona Cardinals and Green Bay Packers.
The brothers grew up competing against each other during backyard football games, school activities and organized sports.
Because Bo was approximately three years older, Max frequently looked to him for guidance.
When Bo played high school football, Max sometimes served as a ballboy during his games.
The brothers later became teammates at Rutgers University, where they practiced against each other regularly.
During their two seasons together, Rutgers coaches frequently matched Bo, a wide receiver, against Max, a cornerback.
These competitive practices helped Max improve his defensive abilities.
In an October 2024 interview with the Cardinals, Max explained that his brother had been an important mentor throughout his life.
The brothers eventually faced each other as NFL opponents when Arizona visited Green Bay on October 13, 2024.

He also recorded a 10.41-second performance in the 100-meter dash, establishing himself as one of the fastest athletes in Cedar Creek’s history.
His athletic achievements helped inspire his younger brothers to pursue their own sporting ambitions.
Gary Jr. was the first of the three brothers to play competitive football and eventually become a cornerback.
He also earned a degree in criminal justice, an academic path that Bo and Max later followed at Rutgers.
In October 2024, the Packers reported that Gary Jr. was working as a probation officer in Cape May County, New Jersey.

Unlike her brothers, who have received extensive media attention through their football careers, Jasmine has maintained a relatively private public profile.
Reliable sports publications have not widely documented her education, occupation or personal relationships.
Nevertheless, her presence at important family football events demonstrates her connection to the family’s sporting achievements.

However, football eventually became his primary sporting interest.
The family’s backyard served as an informal training facility where the brothers practiced routes, catches and defensive techniques.
