The Gunners have officially tied down record-breaker Max Dowman to a professional contract, ensuring the 16-year-old sensation remains at the Emirates for the long haul.
A Historic Talent: The Record-Breaker
Arsenal confirmed on Friday (30/01) that Max Dowman has signed a pre-contract agreement, which will officially transition into a professional deal when he turns 17 this December. Considered the “crown jewel” of Hale End, Dowman has already rewritten the history books this season:
- Youngest Ever Champions League Player: At just 15 years and 308 days, he surpassed Lamine Yamal and Youssoufa Moukoko during a clash against Slavia Prague.
- Arsenal’s Second-Youngest Debutant: He made his senior bow at 15 years and 234 days against Leeds United last August.
Despite his meteoric rise, Dowman is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but he remains fully integrated into Mikel Arteta’s first-team setup.
“I Belong Here”: Dowman’s Emotional Reaction
Speaking after signing the agreement, the lifelong Arsenal supporter couldn’t hide his pride.
“This means everything to me and my family. We all support Arsenal, and I truly feel like I belong here,” Dowman said. “I want to thank my coaches, teammates, and especially my family for helping me reach this milestone.”
We are delighted to announce that Max Dowman has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club that will lead to him signing professional terms when he turns 17 in December.

Following the Hale End Blueprint
Dowman highlighted the clear pathway from the academy to the first team, citing current stars as his primary inspiration:
- Bukayo Saka: The gold standard for Hale End graduates.
- Ethan Nwaneri & Myles Lewis-Skelly: Fellow teenagers who have paved the way for Dowman’s integration this season.
“Seeing what Bukayo, Ethan, and Myles have achieved inspires me every day. Having role models who walked the same path makes the dream feel real,” he added.
