Struggling for minutes under Pep Guardiola, the versatile forward has emerged as a top loan target for Domenico Tedesco’s Turkish title challengers.

Despite arriving at the Etihad with high hopes, Omar Marmoush’s journey with Manchester City may be reaching a crossroads. Stuck behind the unstoppable Erling Haaland in the pecking order, the Egyptian international has seen his starting opportunities vanish, leading to intense speculation about a January exit.

According to reports from the Turkish outlet Sabah, Fenerbahçe has officially registered interest in the striker. The Istanbul giants, currently locked in a fierce title race, have reportedly contacted Marmoush’s representatives to discuss a move before the window closes.

Fenerbahçe, currently sitting second in the Süper Lig under manager Domenico Tedesco, is desperate for offensive reinforcements. Tedesco views Marmoush’s speed and versatility as the “missing piece” for his frontline as they push for the Turkish championship.

The proposed deal is expected to be a loan until the end of the season, a model that could suit all parties:

  • For Marmoush: A chance to play 90 minutes every week and regain his scoring rhythm.
  • For Fenerbahçe: A world-class addition without a massive permanent transfer fee.
  • For Man City: A way to maintain the player’s market value while he isn’t being used by Guardiola.

Performance at City

While he hasn’t been a regular starter, Marmoush has been a reliable squad player when called upon. In 17 appearances this season mostly as a late substitute the Egyptian has managed to find the back of the net twice. However, at 26/27 years old, the striker is reportedly eager for a project where he is the “main man” rather than a backup option.

So far, Manchester City has yet to officially respond to the inquiry. While Guardiola values squad depth, the club has historically been open to letting unhappy players leave if the right proposal arrives.
