DORTMUND/MANCHESTER – Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their scouting efforts for Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha. The 25-year-old midfielder has emerged as a key target for the Red Devils as they look to bolster their squad with versatile, homegrown talent for the upcoming season.

According to Sky Germany, United scouts have been impressed by Nmecha’s consistency in the Bundesliga. The German international, who was developed in Manchester City’s elite youth academy alongside the likes of Phil Foden and Cole Palmer, has reportedly hinted at a desire to return to English football should the “right project” emerge.

A Versatile Solution for the Midfield

Standing out for his technical mastery and physical presence, Nmecha has become a vital cog in the Dortmund machine. This season, he has registered 5 goals and 3 assists in 28 appearances, establishing himself as a reliable starter.

His ability to operate as a deep-lying playmaker, a traditional “number 8,” or even an attacking midfielder makes him an attractive prospect for Michael Carrick’s tactical system. CaughtOffside reports that while Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, Nmecha’s past ties to the city of Manchester could give United an edge in any potential negotiations.

Despite the growing interest, Borussia Dortmund are in no rush to sell. Nmecha is currently under contract until June 2028, and the German club is reportedly considering a long-term extension to ward off Premier League predators.

Valued at approximately €45 million (£38m) by Transfermarkt, Nmecha represents a high-value opportunity for Manchester United to add a player who already understands the intensity and requirements of English football.
