The rivalry between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal has reached boiling point, with the current league leaders announcing they are considering legal action against Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus.

Following Al-Nassr’s 3-1 defeat to their rivals, the Portuguese coach sparked outrage by questioning the integrity of the match officials and suggesting that Al-Hilal wields “greater political clout” within the Saudi Pro League.

A Threat to the “Saudi Sporting Project”

Al-Hilal responded swiftly with a scathing official statement, accusing Jesus of inflaming public opinion and undermining the nation’s footballing ambitions.

“The club reiterates its full confidence that authorities will take action regarding these offensive statements,” the club stated. “These claims unjustifiably inflame public opinion and offend the Saudi sporting project. We are prepared to file a formal complaint to ensure necessary measures are taken.”

The club further argued that Jesus’ comments violated FIFA’s core principles of neutrality, integrity, and competition unity.

Despite the looming legal battle, Jorge Jesus remains confident that Al-Nassr can overturn the seven-point gap in the standings. Speaking after the match, the former Flamengo and Benfica boss praised his squad’s resilience while acknowledging Al-Hilal’s experience.

“I know them well; I worked there for two years. They know how to handle pressure,” Jesus remarked. “But Al-Nassr is a giant club. We are looking for titles, and despite the imbalance some players are showing, I have total confidence in our journey.”

Bento on the Move?

In a final twist, Jesus also addressed the rumors surrounding Brazilian goalkeeper Bento. The shot-stopper has been linked with a move away from Al-Nassr recently.

“The situation in goal is not easy to resolve,” Jesus admitted. “Bento is looking to play for another team, and we have to find solutions quickly.”
