PARIS, France – Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly completed the signing of Barcelona’s highly-rated youngster Dro Fernández in a deal worth a bargain €6 million (£5m). The 18-year-old Spaniard is set to join the reigning Champions League winners after growing frustrated with the lack of opportunities and contractual delays at the Spotify Camp Nou.
According to Spanish outlet AS, the “Luis Enrique factor” was the primary reason behind Dro’s decision. The young midfielder reportedly told his representatives that the chance to be coached by the former Barcelona and Spain manager was “by far the most attractive option” on the table.
A Surprise Exit for Hansi Flick
The news has reportedly sent shockwaves through the Barcelona hierarchy. While Hansi Flick had not integrated Dro into his regular starting XI, the German coach and sporting director Deco were surprised by the player’s sudden decision to force an exit.
Dro, a product of the famed La Masia academy, had expected a new contract offer upon turning 18. When the board, led by Joan Laporta, failed to open negotiations, the player decided to look elsewhere. Having featured in only five games this season despite being a standout in training, Dro viewed the move to Paris as the necessary step for his professional development.
The Argentine Ambition: Enzo Fernández next?
PSG’s recruitment drive doesn’t stop with young prospects. According to L’Équipe, sporting director Luis Campos is still prioritizing a move for Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández.
The Argentine World Cup winner remains the “dream target” for next season, though his €120m+ valuation and long-term contract at Stamford Bridge (extending beyond 2030) present a massive financial challenge. While initial contacts have been made with Enzo’s camp, PSG is currently focusing on finalizing Dro Fernández’s four-year contract to integrate him into the squad immediately.
