Leeds United are on the verge of securing a major January reinforcement, with Argentine talent Facundo Buonanotte set to join the club on a season-long loan.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have opted to terminate Buonanotte’s current loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion early. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is now expected to undergo a medical at Elland Road before officially signing with the Whites.
A Tough Spell at Stamford Bridge Buonanotte arrived at Chelsea as a surprise summer signing for the 2025/26 campaign, but he has struggled to find consistent minutes in a crowded Blues midfield. During his short time at Stamford Bridge, the Argentine featured in only eight matches, contributing one goal and two assists.
Brighton, who signed the playmaker from Rosario Central in early 2023, believe a move to the Championship or a more prominent role at Leeds will better serve his development. Buonanotte is already proven in English football, having enjoyed a productive loan spell at Leicester City last season, where he registered six goals and three assists in 35 appearances.

Market Value and Previous Interest Currently valued at €18 million (according to Transfermarkt), Buonanotte’s potential has long been recognized globally. Interestingly, Brazilian giants Flamengo reportedly tracked the player before his move to Europe, but the youngster’s priority has always been to establish himself in the English game.
