The Egyptian King’s future at Anfield remains uncertain despite a formal apology, with Roma and Saudi Pro League clubs monitoring the situation.

The future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool has come under intense scrutiny following reports of a fractured relationship with manager Arne Slot. While the club’s official stance is to retain their star forward until his contract expires, sources at The Athletic and CaughtOffside suggest that a premature departure is no longer being ruled out if internal tensions do not subside.

The Root of the Conflict The friction reportedly began when Slot rotated Salah out of the starting XI for several key fixtures earlier this season. The Egyptian international did not hide his frustration, later claiming in an interview that his relationship with the Dutch manager was virtually non-existent.

In an attempt to stabilize the locker room, Salah has since issued a formal apology to his teammates. BBC Sport also reported that Slot held a private “clear-the-air” meeting with the striker, publicly stating, “There is no reason to want Salah out of Liverpool.” However, despite these public gestures, the atmosphere at the AXA Training Centre remains “delicate.”

Potential Destinations: Roma and Saudi Arabia If the situation fails to improve, a summer exit—or even a shock contract termination—could become a reality.

AS Roma: According to La Repubblica, the Italian giants are closely monitoring Salah’s status. A return to the Stadio Olimpico would be a massive statement for the Giallorossi.

Saudi Pro League: The interest from Saudi Arabia remains the most significant financial threat, with several clubs ready to offer record-breaking terms to bring the 33-year-old to the Middle East.

Salah’s Season in Numbers Despite the off-field distractions, Salah continues to be a vital contributor on the pitch. In 20 appearances across the Premier League, Champions League, and Community Shield this season, he has registered:

  • Goals: 5
  • Assists: 4

While these numbers are respectable, they are slightly below Salah’s usual elite standards, further fueling debate over whether Slot’s tactical system truly suits the club’s all-time Premier League top scorer.
