Antonio Rüdiger is racing against time to be fit for the Barcelona vs Real Madrid clash in the Spanish Super Cup final, scheduled for next Sunday (10). The German defender is receiving intensive treatment on his knee and is determined not to miss the Clásico, even as doubts remain over his physical condition.

Real Madrid are preparing for their first possible trophy of the season, but Rüdiger’s availability has become one of the main concerns for head coach Xabi Alonso ahead of the decisive encounter.

Rüdiger’s Injury Situation Explained

Rüdiger featured in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Atlético de Madrid, helping Los Blancos secure a 2–1 victory, but he was forced off in the 23rd minute of the second half after experiencing discomfort in his knee.

Earlier in the week, Real Madrid had already confirmed that the defender was training separately from the rest of the squad due to knee issues. However, the club has not released detailed information regarding the severity of the injury.

Since then, Rüdiger has held discussions with the Real Madrid medical staff and has made it clear that he is willing to take risks to be involved in the final. His intention is to play at least part of the match, depending on medical clearance.

Determination to Play the Clásico

According to internal sources, Rüdiger has intensified his recovery program in Saudi Arabia, where the team is based for the Super Cup. The defender views the Clásico as unmissable, but the final decision will depend on how his knee responds in the coming days.

Real Madrid’s medical department continues to monitor his condition closely, with no guarantees yet regarding his inclusion in the starting XI.

Real Madrid Squad Updates Ahead of the Final

Injuries remain a topic of internal evaluation at Real Madrid. Kylian Mbappé has recovered from his physical issues and has rejoined full training with the squad. However, his place in the starting lineup for the final is not yet confirmed.

If Rüdiger is unable to start, Huijsen is the most likely replacement in central defense. David Alaba could also be used as an alternative option, while Asencio is expected to keep his place after a solid performance in the semi-final.

Probable Real Madrid Lineup vs Barcelona

Real Madrid are expected to line up as follows for the Spanish Super Cup final:

Courtois; Valverde, Asencio (Alaba), Rüdiger (Huijsen), Carreras; Camavinga, Tchouaméni; Rodrygo, Bellingham, Vinicius Junior; Mbappé (Gonzalo García).

With the Clásico final approaching, all eyes remain on Rüdiger’s recovery as Real Madrid look to lift silverware against their historic rivals.
