Lucas Beraldo is close to leaving Paris Saint-Germain, with Fenerbahçe emerging as the frontrunners to sign the Brazilian defender as he seeks regular playing time ahead of the World Cup.
Talks are expected to take place between representatives of PSG and the Turkish club in the coming days, with Fenerbahçe proposing a loan move that would include an option to buy. PSG are not currently planning to strengthen their squad in the market, making Beraldo’s potential departure more straightforward.
From the player’s perspective, a move away from Paris is viewed positively. Beraldo believes that securing consistent minutes is crucial if he is to remain in contention for Brazil selection, and Fenerbahçe have made it clear he would arrive as a first-choice player.
The Istanbul club are confident of reaching an agreement, having already completed business with PSG in the past and recently strengthened their defence with the signing of Milan Škriniar. Their relationship with the French champions is seen internally as a key factor in progressing the deal.
Beraldo’s limited opportunities at PSG have largely been down to fierce competition. At centre-back, the former São Paulo standout is behind club captain Marquinhos and the in-form Willian Pacho. On the left side of defence, another position Beraldo can fill, he faces further obstacles in the shape of Nuno Mendes widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe and Lucas Hernández, both of whom are preferred in Luis Enrique’s system.

There have also been concerns over Beraldo’s performances when called upon. While technically strong, the Brazilian has sometimes struggled to adapt physically to PSG’s defensive demands, limiting his chances of establishing a regular role in the team.
Since arriving in Paris, Beraldo has made 72 competitive appearances for PSG, including 12 at left-back. Should the move to Fenerbahçe be finalised, the 21-year-old is expected to play a central role under head coach Domenico Tedesco, a scenario that aligns closely with his ambitions on the international stage.
For PSG, the deal would ease congestion in defence, while for Beraldo it could represent a timely opportunity to reset his career and push towards his World Cup goal.
