Goal-shy Aston Villa held to draw by Everton as Emery’s side struggle

Aston Villa’s winless run continued with a goalless draw at Everton, leaving Unai Emery’s men without a single goal after four Premier League matches.
The Villans, despite having time to regroup over the international break, remain stuck near the relegation zone as their attacking woes deepen.
Villa Still Searching for First Goal of the Season
Aston Villa’s campaign has started in worrying fashion:
- Matchday 1 – 0-0 draw vs Newcastle
- Matchday 2 – 1-0 defeat to Brentford
- Matchday 3 – 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace
- Matchday 4 – 0-0 draw vs Everton
Four games, zero goals — Villa are the only side in the Premier League yet to score this season.
Everton Dominate as Martínez Rescues Villa
While Villa struggled to create, Everton were far more dangerous at Goodison Park. Sean Dyche’s side registered 20 shots, but were repeatedly denied by Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, who returned to the lineup after a summer transfer exit failed to materialize.
Jordan Pickford, on the other hand, was rarely tested. His only meaningful save came from Morgan Rogers’ first-half strike on the edge of the box.
Emery Under Pressure as Fixtures Pile Up
The lack of cutting edge is putting early-season pressure on Emery, whose side sits near the bottom of the table. Villa must first face Brentford in the Carabao Cup before traveling to Sunderland in the Premier League next weekend two games that could be crucial in shifting momentum.
