Real Madrid could lose Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise to Liverpool

Michael Olise is emerging as one of the hottest names on the European market, but Real Madrid may be losing ground to Liverpool in the race for the Bayern Munich forward.
Real Madrid sees Olise as Vinícius Júnior’s replacement
The 22-year-old French international has been on Real Madrid’s radar as a possible successor to Vinícius Júnior, whose contract renewal has stalled due to salary demands. The Brazilian is reportedly asking to become the club’s highest-paid player, creating uncertainty about his future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Olise, currently under contract with Bayern Munich until June 2029, is valued at around €100 million. Madrid views him as the ideal profile to strengthen the left wing should Vinícius depart.
Liverpool ahead in the race
According to Caught Offside, however, Liverpool are leading the chase. The Premier League giants see Olise as the long-term heir to Mohamed Salah and are confident of securing him for around £87 million (€100m).
One crucial factor favors Liverpool: Olise is reportedly open to returning to English football, where he previously impressed at Crystal Palace. A verbal understanding with Bayern’s management could also smooth a Premier League move.
Olise’s numbers at Bayern Munich
Since his arrival in Germany, Olise has quickly adapted to Bayern Munich’s system. In the current season alone, he has already scored five goals in six matches across club and country. With France, his efficiency is even more striking: four goals in four games.
Transfer only expected in 2026
Although both Real Madrid and Liverpool are preparing their strategies, a formal move is unlikely before 2026, when market conditions could allow negotiations to advance.
For now, the Frenchman remains a key piece at Bayern, but the tug of war between Madrid and Liverpool is set to intensify in the coming months.
