Norway recorded the biggest win of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers so far, thrashing Moldova 11-1 this Tuesday (9). Erling Haaland was the star of the night, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

Historic performance by Haaland

The Manchester City striker was unstoppable in Oslo. At just 25 years old, Haaland showed why he is considered the best striker in the world, finding the net five times and assisting teammates Aasgaard and Myhrne.

With this performance, Haaland has now scored nine goals in the qualifiers, three more than Croatia’s Andrej Kramaric, who sits second in the scoring chart.

Norway’s dominance

The scoring opened early, with Myhrne finding the net in the 6th minute. Aasgaard, who came on in the second half, scored four goals, tearing apart Moldova’s fragile defense.

Captain Martin Ødegaard also stood out, scoring once and providing two assists, orchestrating Norway’s relentless attack.

Group I standings

With the win, Norway maintains its perfect record in Group I. The Nordics lead with the best attack (24 goals) and the best defense (3 goals conceded), bringing them closer to a World Cup return after 28 years.

Moldova, on the other hand, remains bottom of the group, with six defeats and the worst defense of the qualifiers.
