Tottenham are not stopping at Xavi Simons and are preparing a proposal to sign Gallagher from Atlético de Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur are not slowing down after sealing the €60 million signing of Dutch star Xavi Simons. According to reports from Spain, the London club are now preparing a formal bid to bring midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atlético de Madrid before the transfer window closes.

Spurs push for another marquee signing

Coach Thomas Frank’s side has been very active in the final stretch of the market, especially after losing Son Heung-min. The club wants to reinforce its midfield with a high-profile addition, and Gallagher long admired by Spurs executives is once again at the top of the list.

The England international already has the approval of the coaching staff, and Tottenham are expected to advance negotiations in the coming days.

Atlético set firm price tag

The operation won’t be straightforward. Atlético Madrid want more than €40 million (£34m / R$254m) to part with Gallagher the same figure they paid Chelsea when they signed him.

At that time, Tottenham were also in the race but lost out to Diego Simeone’s side. Now, Spurs see an opportunity to revive the pursuit and finally bring the midfielder to North London.

Gallagher’s situation in Spain

The 25-year-old has a contract with Atlético until June 2029 and is currently valued at €40 million by Transfermarkt. Since joining Simeone’s squad, he has played 52 matches, scoring four goals and providing six assists, totaling 10 direct goal contributions.

Spurs’ transfer window statement

If successful, Gallagher would become Tottenham’s second major signing in just days, following the arrival of Xavi Simons from Chelsea. The double swoop would significantly boost Spurs’ midfield creativity and depth heading into the season.
