Ronaldo Nazário praises the signing of Florian Wirtz at Liverpool: “He is a quality player”

Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário has endorsed Liverpool’s record signing of German midfielder Florian Wirtz, calling him a “quality player” capable of shining in the Premier League.
Ronaldo Applauds Wirtz’s Arrival at Anfield
In an exclusive interview with Betfair, the former Brazil striker expressed his admiration for Liverpool’s €125 million acquisition from Bayer Leverkusen.
“He’s a quality player, young and looking to grow even further in football. I was sure his talent would take him to a league like the Premier League,” said Ronaldo.
The World Cup winner also emphasized how Wirtz will strengthen Arne Slot’s project for the 2024/25 season:
“I believe he will further improve the squad, leaving many of the team’s forwards in front of goal,” added the two-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Wirtz’s Numbers at Bayer Leverkusen
Florian Wirtz arrives at Liverpool after five successful years in Germany. Last season, the 22-year-old played 45 matches, scoring 16 goals and providing 14 assists, helping Leverkusen win the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.
Known for his creativity and finishing, Wirtz is expected to take on a key midfield role under Slot, filling a position Liverpool had been looking to strengthen since the departures of Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcântara.
Liverpool Break Transfer Record
The Reds secured Wirtz for €125 million, making him one of the club’s most expensive signings in history. The fee highlights Liverpool’s determination to compete at the highest level after narrowly missing out on silverware last season.
The move also signals a shift in the club’s transfer strategy, with younger, technically gifted talents being prioritized to build a long-term project around Slot’s philosophy.
Winning Start for the Reds
Wirtz was not yet in action on Monday (25), but Liverpool earned a 3-2 away victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League. Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike stood out in an intense clash that confirmed Liverpool’s ambitions for the season.
With Wirtz soon to join the squad, expectations are that the German midfielder could become a central figure in Liverpool’s pursuit of domestic and European success.
