Patri Guijarro addresses the challenges facing Barcelona Women: “The feeling is the same”

Barcelona’s women’s team enters the new season under financial strain and after key departures, but midfielder Patri Guijarro insists the group remains united and ambitious.
Financial struggles hit the squad
Barça’s 2025/26 financial report revealed the club needed to raise €1 million to balance its books, a situation that has complicated player renewals and new signings. The difficulties have also led to notable departures, including Fridolina Rolfö to Manchester United and Ingrid Engen to Lyon, weakening coach Pere Romeu’s options.
Patri Guijarro downplays concerns
Speaking at a press conference, Guijarro defended the team’s ability to compete despite the turbulence.
“For us, it’s normal. We still have the same core, many of the same players from recent years, and support from the B team. The feeling is the same, the same goals, the same drive,” she said.

After closing their preseason tour in Mexico with wins against the Liga MX All-Stars and Club América, Barcelona now turns its attention to the start of Liga F, facing Alhama FC on August 31 at 3 p.m. (Brasília time).
