Ruben Amorim’s Premier League struggles: Manchester United manager holds shocking record

Manchester United’s manager Ruben Amorim has failed to impress in England, recording fewer points than games since his Premier League debut.
A Troubling Start at Old Trafford
The Portuguese coach took charge of Manchester United on November 24, 2024, debuting with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in the 12th round of the Premier League.
Since then, Amorim has overseen 29 league matches, including the recent clash against Fulham. In that span, United have collected just 28 points, a worrying tally for a club with championship ambitions.
Fulham 1–1 Manchester United: Missed Opportunity
In the latest fixture at Craven Cottage, United took the lead through an own goal by Rodrigo Muniz in the 58th minute. But Amorim’s side failed to build on the advantage and conceded the equalizer in the 73rd minute, when Emile Smith Rowe scored from an Alex Iwobi assist.
After the draw, Amorim admitted to BBC Sport:
“We scored the goal and forgot how we play. We wanted to win so much that we sat back. We need to grow a lot as a team.”
What’s Next for United?
The Red Devils face an early-season test on Wednesday, August 27, when they travel to Blundell Park to face Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup second round. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. (Brasília time), and Amorim will be under pressure to deliver a convincing win to boost confidence.
