Maguire rules out Manchester United exit after being approached in the transfer window

Harry Maguire has shut down rumors of a transfer exit, making clear he will remain at Manchester United at least until the end of his current contract.

Maguire Confirms United Commitment

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (21), the 32-year-old defender admitted he was approached during the transfer window but revealed the club gave him a “clear and quick” response: he is not for sale.

“I think there were a few clubs that maybe asked or spoke to them [United], and I think they got a quick response,” Maguire said. “The board told me this summer that I can’t leave. We’re in a good place as a club, and I feel the new hierarchy, with Jason Wilcox and the manager, are taking things in the right direction.”

Maguire, who arrived from Leicester City in 2019, extended his contract with the Red Devils in January 2024, keeping him tied to Old Trafford until June 2026.

Key Role Under Amorim

Despite facing criticism in recent years, Maguire has regained trust under manager Rúben Amorim. The Portuguese coach values his leadership and experience, and the board sees him as an important figure during the squad’s transition.

Last season, Maguire featured in 40 matches across all competitions, alternating between starting and substitute roles. In total, he has made 247 appearances for United, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists. His resurgence was most notable in the UEFA Europa League, where he helped stabilize United’s defense.
