Tottenham still dream of Savinho, but Manchester City is playing hardball to release the striker

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in Brazilian winger Savinho, but Manchester City have made it clear they are not willing to release him easily. The 21-year-old forward was one of Pep Guardiola’s trusted options last season and has become an increasingly important figure for both club and country.

Savinho’s Breakthrough at Manchester City

After developing on loan in Europe, Savinho established himself in City’s first-team squad during the 2024/25 campaign, making 48 appearances across competitions. He contributed 3 goals and 11 assists in 3,086 minutes of play, according to stats site OGol.

His form earned him regular call-ups to the Brazilian national team, where he is expected to play a significant role in the build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Spurs Hope for Transfer Chain Reaction

Tottenham’s interest in Savinho was fueled by speculation that Manchester City could move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabéu. A potential arrival of Rodrygo at the Etihad would open the door for Savinho’s departure.

However, with that deal yet to materialize, Spurs face a major obstacle. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, City are “playing hardball” and see the Brazilian as too valuable to lose without securing a replacement.

City’s Summer Market Moves

While Savinho looks set to stay, Manchester City have already bolstered their attack with the signing of Rayan Cherki from Lyon, adding another creative option to Guardiola’s squad.

For now, Tottenham’s hopes remain alive, but unless a late transfer domino effect occurs, Savinho will continue wearing the sky blue shirt at the Etihad this season.
