Marc Casadó rejects interest from Atlético and Tottenham, but could leave Barcelona for playing time

Midfielder Marc Casadó has turned down approaches from Atlético de Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, choosing to remain at FC Barcelona but his future at the club hinges on one clear condition: consistent minutes on the pitch.
According to journalist Carlos Monfort, the 23-year-old La Masia graduate is content under Hansi Flick’s management and believes his game can develop with the German coach. However, Casadó has made it clear he would consider leaving if reduced to a peripheral role.
From Injury Cover to Key Contributor
Casadó’s breakthrough came last season, stepping up when Barcelona’s midfield was ravaged by injuries. With Gavi sidelined early and Marc Bernal later struck by a serious injury, the defensive midfielder was thrust into action even playing further forward when needed.
In 36 appearances, Casadó scored once, provided six assists, and impressed with his tactical intelligence and one-on-one defensive ability, earning the trust of Flick’s staff.
Competition and Potential Setbacks
The imminent return of Bernal, the recovery of Andreas Christensen, and tweaks to Flick’s tactical approach could limit Casadó’s role in 2025. While Barcelona views him as a reliable squad option, the player’s priority is securing regular minutes to continue his progression.
Market Value on the Rise
Casadó’s recent performances have boosted his value on the transfer market. Transfermarkt estimates the defensive midfielder at €30 million (R$188 million), a figure that may tempt suitors if his situation changes.
For now, Casadó remains committed to Barcelona but with European giants monitoring his status, the 2025–26 season could prove decisive for his long-term future at the Camp Nou.
