Grealish set for loan to Everton as Manchester City finalizes negotiations

Forward no longer in Guardiola’s plans and close to Goodison Park switch
Jack Grealish’s time at Manchester City appears to be nearing a pause, with the forward now on the verge of joining Everton on loan. The 28-year-old, who arrived from Aston Villa in a record deal but has fallen out of Pep Guardiola’s starting plans, has reportedly agreed to the move in search of more playing time.
According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between City and Everton have advanced in recent days, with TEAMtalk adding that Grealish has given the green light to the transfer. The England international sees the switch as a chance to revive his form in the Premier League and strengthen his case for a place in Gareth Southgate’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Salary split still unresolved
The main hurdle remains the division of Grealish’s salary. Everton have indicated they cannot commit to a 50-50 split, while City is seeking to maximize cost savings despite knowing a permanent sale is unlikely this summer. Both clubs, however, are optimistic about reaching a compromise before the transfer window closes.
From record signing to rotational player
Grealish joined Manchester City in August 2021 for a British-record fee but has gradually lost his role amid fierce competition for attacking places. Last season, he made 32 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and registering five assists.
The move to Goodison Park would give Sean Dyche’s Everton an experienced Premier League playmaker, while offering Grealish a fresh platform to prove his worth at the highest level.
