PSG eyes Real Madrid’s Rodrygo amid Barcola to Liverpool transfer fears

Paris Saint-Germain has set its sights on Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes as a potential replacement for Bradley Barcola, who is now attracting strong interest from Liverpool, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
With the European transfer window entering its decisive weeks, PSG is preparing for a possible late push from Liverpool to sign Barcola. The English club continues to prioritize Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but Barcola has emerged as a backup option if negotiations for the Swede stall.
Liverpool’s Interest Sparks PSG Concerns
Barcola’s recent form has elevated his profile across Europe. The 21-year-old winger had a standout 2024/25 campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing 21 assists in 64 matches, while helping PSG secure multiple domestic titles.
Although PSG is not actively looking to sell, they remain cautious due to Liverpool’s financial power and ambition under new management. The French club fears being caught off guard and has started exploring alternatives with Rodrygo now top of the list.
Rodrygo vs. Barcola: Equal Value, Different Context
Rodrygo, 24, remains a valuable asset for Real Madrid, despite not being an undisputed starter under Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 54 appearances last season — slightly less than Barcola in terms of production.
Both players are valued at around €100 million, making a potential swap or equivalent investment feasible. While Real Madrid is open to selling, PSG’s biggest challenge will be convincing Rodrygo to leave Spain, where he remains committed to fighting for his place.
Liverpool’s Decision Looms
Liverpool is expected to make a final move for Isak soon. If the Magpies refuse to negotiate, Barcola could become their primary target, increasing PSG’s urgency to secure a replacement.
The next few days could be decisive, with top European clubs racing to finalize marquee transfers before the summer window closes.
