Real Madrid Women confirm August friendlies ahead of La Liga F season opener

The club will face Union Berlin and Bayern Munich before debuting against Dux Logroño on August 31

Real Madrid Women are finalizing their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, with two preseason friendlies confirmed ahead of their Liga F debut at the end of August. The squad returned to training following the conclusion of the UEFA Women’s Euro, as focus now shifts to domestic and continental competition.

Friendlies Against German Opposition

The team will kick off its preseason schedule against Union Berlin on August 17, with kickoff set for 10:30 AM (Brasília time). Four days later, on August 21 at 11:00 AM, they’ll face a much tougher test when they take on Bayern Munich, the reigning German champions.

These matches will serve as critical preparation for head coach Pau Quesada, who took charge following the end of the 2024/25 season. The Spaniard returns to the club after a stint with Torino’s men’s team in Italy, where he worked as assistant coach.

Liga F Schedule: Derby Comes Early

Real Madrid’s official competitive return is set for August 31, when they travel to face Dux Logroño in the opening round of Liga F. The schedule quickly intensifies in September, starting with a Madrid derby against Atlético de Madrid on September 7.

One week later, on September 14, they face Madrid CFF, followed by a home match against Deportivo on September 21. The club will then close the opening five rounds with an away clash against Tenerife.

Busy Transfer Window Reshapes the Squad

Real Madrid have been highly active in the summer transfer market, reshaping the squad with several high-profile departures and arrivals. Two key exits occurred in June: goalkeeper Mylène Chavas and club icon Olga Carmona, who completed a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In response, the club signed several international stars:

  • Sara Holmgaard (right-back, from Everton)
  • Merle Frohms (goalkeeper)
  • Sara Däbritz (midfielder, from Lyon)
  • Hanna Bennison (midfielder, from Juventus)
  • Bella Andersson, the rising Swedish talent, who was the latest to join the squad.

These additions reflect the club’s ambition to make a deeper run in Liga F and the upcoming UEFA Women’s Champions League, where Real Madrid aims to establish itself as a continental powerhouse.
