Barcelona prepares for Lewandowski’s departure and targets Nicolas Jackson as a possible replacement

Saudi clubs circle Polish striker as Barcelona lines up Chelsea’s forward
Barcelona is preparing for the possible departure of Robert Lewandowski during this transfer window and has already begun exploring alternatives, including Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, according to reports from Fichajes.
The Catalan club has not discouraged interest from Saudi Pro League sides, with Lewandowski being heavily courted. Club executives have made it clear to the Polish international that the decision is now in his hands if he wants to leave, Barça will not stand in his way.
Aubameyang contact made, but Jackson is the priority
Barcelona has already reached out to former player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is currently a free agent. The Gabonese forward responded positively but is being considered only as a backup, should Lewandowski decide to stay.
If the veteran striker departs, the club’s priority shifts to 23-year-old Nicolas Jackson, who could become available at Chelsea following the arrival of João Pedro. The Senegalese international is valued at up to €71 million, making him a costly option for financially constrained Barça.
Financial concerns may complicate the deal
Despite Jackson being admired by the Blaugrana coaching staff, the operation is anything but straightforward. Barcelona faces stiff competition from several Premier League sides and would have to make a significant financial commitment to secure his services.
Chelsea reportedly values Jackson at around £60 million, equivalent to approximately €71 million. That figure is well beyond Barcelona’s current spending level. So far, the club has invested just €27 million in the transfer window a modest amount considering its squad needs and ongoing financial recovery.
Barcelona’s 2025/26 reinforcements so far
Despite limited spending, Barcelona has secured three signings this summer:
- Joan García, goalkeeper
- Roony Bardghji, midfielder
- Marcus Rashford, forward
The addition of Rashford was considered a major coup but hasn’t ruled out further investment in the attack, especially if Lewandowski leaves.
