Liverpool decides to sell Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez and Harvey Elliott to complete the purchase of Isak

Newcastle’s Swedish striker tops Arne Slot’s wishlist as Reds prepare for major shake-up

Liverpool is reportedly preparing to make bold moves in the transfer market by parting ways with three key players Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, and Harvey Elliott to raise funds for the acquisition of Alexander Isak, Newcastle United’s highly rated striker. The move, according to Fichajes, is aimed at reshaping the squad for new head coach Arne Slot.

Isak Valued at Over €100 Million

Alexander Isak, 24, is at the top of Liverpool’s transfer list but comes with a high price tag. Newcastle has reportedly placed a valuation of over €100 million, making him one of the most expensive targets in the current window.

The Swedish forward is also attracting interest from Barcelona and Al-Hilal, but Liverpool is said to be pushing hard to complete the deal. Isak has expressed a desire to leave St. James’ Park, making a summer move increasingly likely.

Key Departures to Finance Transfer

To afford the move, Liverpool is expected to offload three players:

  • Luis Díaz, 28, who played a key role in the club’s recent Premier League campaign, is now strongly linked to Bayern Munich. The Colombian winger joined Liverpool from FC Porto in early 2022 after an impressive spell in Portugal.
  • Darwin Núñez, who managed only seven goals and five assists in 47 appearances during the 2024/25 season, is reportedly being courted by Napoli and other Serie A clubs.
  • Harvey Elliott, 22, could also be sold. The young midfielder has struggled for minutes and is likely to fall further down the pecking order with the arrival of German talent Florian Wirtz. Elliott’s contract runs until mid-2027, making him a valuable asset in the market.

Douglas Luiz Also on the Radar

While the Isak deal takes priority, Douglas Luiz, currently at Juventus, is another name being monitored by the Liverpool board. The Brazilian midfielder, known for his strong performances at Aston Villa before moving to Italy, is seen as a potential reinforcement in the middle of the park.

New Era Under Arne Slot Begins with Major Ambitions

Liverpool’s aggressive transfer strategy signals the start of a new era under Arne Slot, who is looking to rebuild the squad with dynamic attacking options. The club has already made several moves in the German market and appears determined to secure a marquee signing before the close of the window.

If the deals go through, the departures of Díaz, Núñez, and Elliott could mark one of the most significant transitions at Anfield since the post-Klopp era began.
