Marcus Rashford arrived at Barcelona with physical problems, says journalist

Marcus Rashford has arrived at FC Barcelona as one of the club’s marquee signings for the 2025/26 season but the English forward is already dealing with a fitness issue that has slightly disrupted the start of his preseason preparations.

According to Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, Rashford is carrying a thigh problem that dates back to the end of last season with Manchester United. While not deemed serious, the injury has reportedly limited his ability to participate fully in training sessions since his arrival in Barcelona.

Medical Staff Approves Participation Despite Discomfort

Despite the lingering discomfort, Barcelona’s medical department has cleared the 26-year-old to join the team’s preseason activities. The club is monitoring the situation closely, ensuring that Rashford’s workload is managed to avoid aggravating the issue.

The forward is still expected to make his unofficial debut against Vissel Kobe on Sunday, July 27, as part of the club’s preseason tour. Club insiders remain optimistic that he will reach full fitness by the start of La Liga.

Rashford Becomes Third Signing of the Summer

Rashford is Barcelona’s third confirmed signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Joan García and Swedish winger Roony Bardghji. His transfer is seen as a significant step in reviving his career after a turbulent final season at Old Trafford.

Rashford’s move has even drawn public support from Lamine Yamal, who welcomed the England international as a valuable addition to the Blaugrana squad.

Expected to Wear No. 19 Shirt at Barcelona

While the club has not officially announced Rashford’s jersey number, reports indicate he is likely to wear number 19 the same shirt he wore early in his Manchester United career. The number became available after Yamal switched to number 10, previously worn by Ansu Fati.

Barcelona fans are hopeful that Rashford can recapture his best form in Spain, with many seeing this transfer as a fresh start for the forward in a new league.
