Portuguese legend will play until age 42 with one of the highest salaries in football history

Cristiano Ronaldo has officially extended his contract with Al-Nassr until 2027, a move that secures his place in Saudi Arabian football for at least two more seasons. The 39-year-old star announced the new deal himself, which includes a staggering €200 million per season (approx. R$1.2 billion), cementing his status as one of the highest-paid athletes in the world.

Cristiano Ronaldo eyes 1,000 career goals

With the new deal in place, CR7 is on track to reach the historic 1,000-goal mark. Currently, the legendary forward has scored 938 career goals, meaning he is just 62 goals away from achieving a feat no other player has ever reached in professional football.

Given his current scoring form, and the duration of his contract, the 1,000-goal milestone could be within reach before 2027.

Could Ronaldo play the 2026 World Cup?

The new contract also makes it likely that Ronaldo will represent Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, potentially becoming the first player to feature in six consecutive editions of the tournament (2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026).

Despite being 42 by then, the Portuguese captain continues to maintain elite physical conditioning and match-level sharpness, thanks to Al-Nassr’s support and his own rigorous fitness routine.

Ronaldo’s perks at Al-Nassr

Reports suggest that Cristiano’s new deal includes influence over Al-Nassr’s transfer strategy, including decision-making on player signings. He is believed to have veto power on key decisions and plays a central role in shaping the team’s future.

One of the names linked with Al-Nassr is Casemiro, a former Real Madrid and Manchester United teammate of Ronaldo. The Brazilian midfielder is being targeted in a R$228 million move, and CR7’s approval is reportedly crucial to sealing the deal.

Ronaldo’s stats at Al-Nassr

Since joining Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 99 goals in 111 matches, with 19 assists to his name. He is expected to hit the 100-goal mark in his next game, continuing his streak of scoring over 100 goals for nearly every club and national team he’s represented:

  • Real Madrid – 450 goals
  • Manchester United – 145 goals (two spells)
  • Juventus – 101 goals
  • Portugal – 128 goals (as of now)
  • Al-Nassr – 99 goals and counting

A legacy beyond trophies?

Although Ronaldo has not yet won a title with Al-Nassr, his influence off the pitch is transforming the Saudi Pro League, attracting global attention, new fans, and high-profile signings. His leadership and visibility remain central to the Kingdom’s broader sports project.
